Dear PHP Melody fans,
We’ve got some good news for you. In a couple of days you’ll be able to download PHP Melody 1.6.3.
This new version will bring important features such as video upload for your members, support for new video types and audio files, a few new video sources and quite a few improvements for the Article Module.
Among the new features we’ve build into this release you’ll be able to find:
- Support for new video sources: Justin.tv, LiveStream and UStream.tv
- Support for (a lot) of new video and audio file types: ‘asf’, ‘wma’, ‘mp3’, ‘m4v’, ‘m4a’, ‘3gp’, ‘3g2’
- Yes, PHP Melody will now allow for mp3 and audio uploads
- Your members will be able to upload both video and audio files
- Media RSS Feed for your videos.
- Auto-generated thumbnails for articles with the option to choose which one to show first.
- META Description for all articles (this is also done automatically)
- The most read articles will be listed on a new page called ‘Popular Articles’
- Thumbnail selector for Youtube Imported videos
- Video preview for Youtube Import & MTV Import
- Batch video moving from one category to another …and a few others!

Auto featured image generator for Articles
Hey Andrew Congratulations my friend I cant wait the create new template for the new features on phpmelodytemplates.com . BTW, I have 2 questions:
1 ) Are we able to upload Article thumbs separate on admin, like I was asking before or it generates automatically as well ( which I don’t want).
2 )when you submit your video under Subcategory does it goes under main category video list as well. So that when someone goes to main category, the system can pull all the sub videos too. ( this was a big thing for a lot of people I guess)
We ll see any way. Congratulation again for the nice update.
1) The article thumbs will be auto-generated based on what pictures are found in the article. If you have multiple pics you’ll be able to select among those. At this stage we decided to go this way, since automation is always welcomed by the majority of PM users.
2) Umm no. If you place a video under a subcategory, it will not be placed into the parent category. This would be too confusing in some cases. However, you can select to display the same video in multiple categories, or hack PM to support such a feature.
There are some nice improvements for the listings, but we didn’t have time to incorporate them 🙁

Wow great features. I have no words to describe phpmelody 1.6.3 Could you please think about following features
*Add being watched videos like youtube
*Video download features
*Emberd “Youtube” video on Article.
*Google ad on video player.
