Finally!

PHP Melody v2.1 is now available for download. This version marks the end of a good year with lots of progress for PHP Melody.

We've tried to include something for everybody in this update and hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Sorry for the delay, we were supposed to release it hours ago, but we've had a little delay.
Now, without any further delays, here's what new in PHP Melody v2.1:

Front-end Bugs

* Duplicate meta title and meta description for listing pages.
* Duplicate/generic meta title for user profile pages.
* Search engine crawlers caused videos to appear as 'being watched now' & wasting resources.
* Search engine crawlers indexed non-value pages such as embed links (http://www.you.com/embed/03898).
* The maintenance page was missing the title & some other issues.
* Notifications for actions related to articles were missing.
* Misplaced RSS links for article pages.
* Some issues with the text & links on large displays.
* Some banners were 'stuck' to layout elements.
* Other theme fixes and HTML syntax problems.

Back-end Bugs

* Big problem : Renaming a video title was updating its URL.
* While editing categories, the 'name' field was not updated.
* While editing a video, the 'duration' field went up to only a max. of 99 minutes.
* Replacing a YouTube video with an mp4 video was not possible.
* Replacing a self-hosted video with an embed video caused problems in the RSS feed.
* Updated the 'Yahoo! Mail' presets.

Other Issues

* Broken RSS feeds in some circumstances.
* Problem with sites hosted on https://.
* Problem with embedded YouTube videos in the sitemap.
* PHP Melody is no longer logging the password from failed login attempts (potential risk).


Front-end Improvements

* Cleaner look for the 'Default' theme.
* Markup Schema support; good for SEO.
* reCAPTCHA support & honeypot traps for registration bots.
* Much improved 'online/offline' status detection for users.
* Improved search suggestion. Uses fewer resources and yields better results.
* Option to disable/enable the commenting system site-wide.
* Users can see their submitted videos as 'pending approval'.
* New function for users that suggests relevant users to follow based on a few factors.
* New translation for the 'Thai' language.
* New ad zones: 'floating ads' (new installations only).
* Improved page titles for categories, search results, tags, etc. (suffered from duplicate metas).

Back-end Improvements

* Editable video & article permalink URL.
* Updates for the WYSIWYG editor: cleaner look, spellcheck support and true 'what you see is what you get'
* HTML5 (<video>) and JavaScript (<script>) are now supported as embeddable videos.
* 'Pre-roll static ads' improvements:
1) Option to add a 'Skip' button on individual pre-roll static ads.
2) Option to target certain categories or video sources.
* Cleaner look & layout improvements. Works better with a larger range of screen resolutions.

New Video Sources: vk.com, video.mail.ru, rutube.ru and novamov.com.

Notes: The premium themes as well as Mobile Melody were also updated! You can download the latest versions from your Customer Area account.

@mijaz - regarding vk.com - this source only supports their own player - please go to your Admin Area -> Settings -> select the Video Sources tab and select 'Use embed player' for VK.

Regarding the spacing issue - this might be caused by the banners you've put there.
Please deactivate them for a second, hit a hard refresh (keep SHIFT pressed and click the Reload icon in your browser) on home page and see if they still show up.
Another thing you could do is clean the /Smarty/templates_c/ directory (except .htaccess and index.html).

Can not add video from vk.com

I believe the video you are trying to add is private.
Not all videos hosted by vk.com are public. Some require signing in and those cannot be added to PHP Melody.

Almost all videos of VK require you to sign in lately.
Because of this I've removed the VK.com plugin I used to have for sale since it isn't working anymore for about 90% of the videos.

Andrew header and footer ads can not be fix? On phpmelody 2.0.1 was not space.

Thanks for the update, was hoping for some new video sources but this will certainly do. The VK.com thing is tricky but if you are supplying your own videos it shouldn't be a problem, it actually is a good remote host for video files as long as your videos don't become too popular and overly leeched they have great speeds.

@Andrew I emailed you guys last night about some rampant abuse going on around these parts..we seriously need a moderator man. Just take a quick gander at my reputation page for some insight.
