LOS ANGELES -
Movieclips.com, an online movie clip-sharing service, launched in beta test mode on Wednesday touting the cooperation of six major Hollywood studios amid an industrywide slowdown in DVD sales.
The founders and private backers aim to make movie clips searchable and sharable and earn referral fees for viewers who go on to buy or rent movies via links that lead to Amazon.com or Apple Inc.'s iTunes.
After exiting the beta period, the company also hopes to put advertisements over the bottom third of the clips and share ad revenue with the studios.
"It's a great way to introduce an older movie to younger audience," said Zach James, the company's 27-year-old co-founder and chief executive.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based startup is launching with 12,000 clips from more than 1,000 movies from 20th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount, Sony Pictures, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.
The notable studio exceptions are Disney and Lionsgate.
James declined to identify the investors.
The launch comes about a year and a half after Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures launched its own clip-sharing service called "VooZoo" on Facebook. That service has since ceased functioning.
Clips from some newer movies, such as "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs," are on the site along with classics like "Raging Bull." Users can share clips over Facebook, Twitter and e-mail among a few other services, but clips cannot be shortened like on Hulu.

How do you guys feel about movie trailer sites?
Do you feel there's a need for such a product/script?

PHP Melody has all the requirements to run a trailer website. What new features you have in mind?

Actually Andrew, I care more about LYRICS.
Is there possibility to make Lyrics site as well. I am willing to buy another license for it. As I seen on the market, there is no nice lyrics script available yet and if you make one it will increase your script's sales.

If you have resources, do it, Andrew.
It is a good idea.

After you dropped the worst upgrade EVER on us in december, and all the issues that it caused have not even been fixed yet, not by any measure, you ask us about feedback for a site redesign elsewhere and now a new trailer script? While hundreds of your customers are waiting for the script or parts of it to be fixed ASAP?
Andrew, phpsugar can't even handle the current problems. Face that simple but very obvious fact and for heaven's sake do something about that first of all. And I mean DO something about it and not make more promises you won't be able to keep.
1.6.1 was and still is a complete disaster, the forums have become a complete mess in the mean time.
There is no way phpsugar could possibly cope with all of this.
How about setting some priorities first?
You're advertising new video sources for 1.6.1 on your site, meanwhile people have to revert back to addvideo.php of the previous version for the script to even work at the moment. Others report those new sources aren't working anyway or anymore. The number of bugs and problems reported is staggering. And all you have come up with is announcing a new version 1.6.2 ... yet again.. it's always the same routine.. honestly. Yet again a promised upgrade that is supposed to fix everything that never worked in the first place. 1.6.1 was already supposed to be a "fix-it-all" upgrade. We've seen where that went.
You do what you want, but there is no way you can do this without it being at the expense of phpmelody and its users. And that can only mean one thing: things will even get worse.

I was just asking a simple, related question. This doesn't imply that we're going to make a trailers script starting tomorrow or next week/month, etc.
The new layout will be taken care of by someone else so that's not interfering with our main work.
Unfortunately, bugs can't be fixed one at a time and only in the forums. We have customers that aren't in the forums and they're relying on us to release a proper patch that deal with all the bugs, no matter how small.
We've fixed the most obvious and major issues right after 1.6.1 was released because we could afford to repackage the release and post the fixes in the forums as well.
During this time, we've been waiting for the bug reports to accumulate so that we can deal with them all at the same time. We consider this to be the most efficient way of doing things (again, the forums aren't the only place were all our customers hang out).
PHP Melody won't be neglected one bit; it's our flagship product.
Thanks again for your patience & have a fun weekend guys!!

I know that script but I need more simple and clean script. I am going to add lyrics myself so no need of their database.
I need a script like this site:
http://www.musicaletras.net/T-Pain-Featuring-Akon/494360-Bartender.html
to play videos from youtube and same time have lyrics.
I guess PhpMelpdy can fit my requirements if there will be some modifications.
So, therefore I am asking to Andrew to make lyrics version as well, believe me he will increase the sales.

The way i see a useful Lyrics script would be one that comes with an extensive database and with an auto-updating feature.
Otherwise there's too much work and too little return for your efforts. Am I somewhat correct? I really don't know much about lyrics sites and what goes into monetizing them and making a loyal user base.

I am not lazy to work and add lyrics one by one, even more for those who wants autopilot MUZIKIA has this MOD and they can buy this as well...
Actually PhpMelody CAN BE used as a lyrics site if we make small modification of the template. What we have to do is to use "DESCRIPTION" as a "lyrics' text" on the right (or left) of video instead of "Video Details". And it will look similar like this lyrics site:
http://www.musicaletras.net/T-Pain-Featuring-Akon/494360-Bartender.html
It's not so much to work and I believe many people will buy this script because of this future and ability. I actually have not time yet to make this changes but if you can provide this modification I myself will think to buy other license for lyrics.
Trust me Andrew your sales will increase as well if you make one separate site demo for example PhpLyrics, Rube template will be perfect for this.
