There are some guys overhere which wrote Apps for Android (Trace, Chatflash, webbiepublisher) and Iphone (me).

I cannot discuss about Android.

In the iOS case (Iphone, Ipad), the app cannot be made and just have a price and a download button. Each app has to be developped for each client (especially for Apple Appstore) as they are special requirements to be met.

In any case it is fun to have one.

Android is much the same.
For every app you will need a custom set of icons and marketing materials, unique to your site. For android it would be easier to get a generic app into the market since there are no quality requirements, but Apple would likely be a problem.

Next to that you need to test and build your app, sign it with your own certificate, apply for a developer account, provide promotional material for your app and so on.
This is quite some work and it will always require manual work which can't be automated.
