New urls. Help me with .htaccess

Remove the artist from the URL of my website, thanks to the post:
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2164&hilit=artist+url+change+htaccess

Google takes as a duplicate, so penalize you if you see that you can enter the URL that had the artist and no artist now. As you would do in the htaccess to avoid having to put one by one the url changed.

Thanks for the reply. Then taking the canonical URL specified in the header google penalize me not, does that me you're trying to say with that link?

The canonical URL will tell search engines that this canonical URL is the only page that matters, if you have duplicates because of URL changes etc. The canonical URL should of course be the same one on all duplicates... for this to work.
