[solved] Cronjob Video Status Checker?

Board index / PHP Melody - Video CMS

For PHP Melody version 2 and newer

Postby shub on Feb 20, 2016 4 pm

Hi,
I wonder why we need to set up the cronjob for the Video Status Checker (for version 2.6) every 5 minutes...
Do we really need to set up every 5 minutes to make it work or if I set up once per week is fine?

You can certainly set it for any desired interval. No problem there.

But if there are no jobs pending the cron won't do/run anything. Therefore, it's recommended you use 5-10 minute intervals.

It could be more demanding on the server to set it at a 5 day interval because then you'll end up with a lot of pending jobs. They won't run at once (we're smarter than that) but still.

And do the con jobs use much space in database or hosting account which affects server speed and database response?

If so do we have to delete old data or it's already deleted automatically ...

There should be no such thing. If you have many auto-import jobs, monitor how many videos get important in your database. Adjust accordingly.
