Question.

If I add a video from URL, can I still upload Subtitles to work on the video ?

Yes, that should be the case if Video JS or JW Player are used for playback.

Some sources cannot use these players so, sub-titles for such videos will not work.

Can we add subtitles for the videos that we embedded from youtube? I have tried it several times but my subtitles that I wrote myself can not be shown. Are there any rules to add subtitles? I can only see the subtitles coming with the embedded video. I cant see mine.

Subtitles only work if the player supports them. Subtitles are currently supported in: Video JS, JW Player (all versions).

In case the video is actually a YouTube embed code (or any other embedded video), subtitles will not work.

That's normal. We can't impose custom subtitles on a remote player.
