As we know the team works for the new 1.7 version.
No release date until now but i am sure it will be a great product.

Muzdonk, you didn't answer his question.
Let me do it.
I used to write programs for the United States Air Force. One thing you can't do is rush it. Most of us would rather wait for awhile and get a program that has been thoroughly thrashed to get rid of all the nasty little habits. I have seen programming released too soon that would run but it had some very nasty habits. By releasing it too soon, Andrew and his crew would harm not only themselves but our systems.
PHPSugar probably won't know the actual release date until just days before they release it. From what I gather, the V1.7 is much more agressive than 1.6.6. It's a complete rewrite. The bad news is, it's taking time. The good news is, many of our suggestions have been incorporated into it.
The release date could be in 2 months or not until next year. But it will be worth the wait if it lives up to PHPSugars reputation so far.
(yes, muzdonk, I used to program for the Air Force for PCs. There weren't any programs so we had to roll our own, long before you were able to spell "Computer")

Thanks for laying it as it is dhunt.
Yes, we are working on 1.7 and it's talking more than we anticipated.
We don't want to make a quick mock product but a solid framework for the future. We failed by releasing way too fast and I don't want to do this, even if we lose momentum or customers along the way.
There's no release date, we're not rushing it, we want it to be the best we can be.
The public beta will be announced way ahead.

Why, the answer to that is, Cyber Terrorists, always blame it on the terrorists. If they know where Andrew is, they could e-bomb wiping out at least 17 unsuspecting Email Accounts. 17 innocent Email accounts in the news. News at 11.

Php melody will have a new brand framework. As the framework is changed, that means that all the current features, for instance, will have to be rebuild.
Right now the features 1.7 arent public.
Andrew wrote here several times that he will provide details once almost everything is done.
Unt then, enjoy php melody 166 as it is a nice one.

The templates will be changed as we know right now. So the actual versions will work anymore.
